A Special Meeting of the Beverly School Committee was held on Monday, September
24, 2001 at the Briscoe Middle School, Beverly, MA.
Members Present:
Ms. Bell, Ms. Brusil, Mr. Cahill, Mr. McHugh,
Ms. Norris, Ms. Coburn Mayor Scanlon
Members Absent: None
President Cahill called the meeting to order at 7:12PM.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Committee members and attending citizens said the Pledge of Allegiance.
SUPERINTENDENT'S EVALUATION
Dr. Lupini's evaluation (September, 2001) was disseminated to those in attendance.
Mr. Cahill commented that it is a very favorable evaluation and further stated that it is
obvious that Committee members are pleased with the Superintendent's performance.
Mrs. Norris, Mrs. Brusil, Mrs. Bell and Mr. McHugh made positive comments about Dr.
Lupini's performance.
Dr. Lupini'commented that he feels lucky to be surrounded by a good leadership team.
He further commented that the school buildings are looking better and we have many
new programs. He stated that we have a lot to do in terms of the next generation of
leaders. He expressed interest in facilitating teachers' pursuit of National Board
Certification. Dr. Lupini said that he is also interested in developing a Parent
Communication Center and offering courses for parents. He stated that we face
ongoing challenges with regard to the Department of Education and the development
of the budget. In summation, he said that indeed we, as Superintendent and School
Committee, do disagree at times but that we do it without being disagreeable.
The Special Meeting was adjourned at 7:25PM.
