A Committee of the Whole meeting of the Beverly School Committee was held on
Monday, June 2, 1997 in the School Committee Room, Briscoe Middle School,
Beverly, MA.
Members Present:
Mr. Bjork, Mrs. Frutiger, Mrs. Krueger,
Ms. Levin,, Mrs. Seamans and Mrs. Goodenough.
Mr. McHugh arrived at 7:30 PM.
Mrs. Gillespie arrived at 7:50 PM.
Members Absent:
Mayor ScanIon
Also in Attendance:
Keith Manville, Acting Superintendent.
Mrs. Goodenough called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM.
PRESENTATION OF SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL PLANS
Mr. Kokos, Principal, gave a presentation on the North Beverly Elementary
School Improvement Plan. Included in the plan is a request for a reading
teacher and a full-time nurse. Discussion was held.
· It was moved by Ms. Levin and seconded to approve the North Beverly School
Improvement Plan, as presented. Unanimously voted.
Mr. Foley, Principal, presented the Centerville Elementary School Site Council
Plan. Since the Plan was not received earlier, members will read and review
the proposal for consideration at the next regular meeting on June 9.
Parents and members of the McKay School PTO were in attendance and
requested an opportunity to speak regarding "why McKay would be last to
occupy the new school." A discussion period followed.
A special meeting will be held Monday, June 16, 1997 at 7:30 PM at McKay
Elementary School to consider the concerns of the McKay School community.
The meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM.
