A special meeting of the Beverly School Committee was held on Tuesday, June 8, 1999
in the School Committee Room, Briscoe Middle School, Beverly, MA.
Members Present:
Mr. Bjork, Mrs. Brusil, Mrs. Frutiger,
Mr. McHugh, Mayor Scanlon and Mr. Cahill.
Mrs. Goodenough arrived at 6:20 PM.
Members Absent: None
Also in Attendance:
William Lupini, Superintendent of Schools
President Bill Cahill called the meeting to order at 6:10 PM.
SUPERINTENDENT' S EVALUATION
The School Committee Evaluation tally of ratings and the 360 evaluation document
returns were shared with members. The Superintendent received an overall very positive
evaluation.
Members shared individual comments with the Superintendent.
Constructive criticisms reflected in both evaluation instruments included:
· Development of a technology plan
· Development of a long-term financial plan
· Superintendent be more visible within the district.
Positive reflections in the evaluation included:
· Superintendent helped develop positive atmosphere in district
- students and parents are proud to be here
· Work with curriculum development, length of school day, and safety issues
· Increased commitment and support due to Superintendent's leadership
Mr. Lupini informed members he wants to work on a personal recognition issue.
The Superintendent responded to comments and constructive criticisms and stated his desire
to visit schools more next year as a high priority. Mr. Lupini will present 1999-2000 goals at
the regular meeting on June 14, 1999. Goals will include:
· evaluation process
· technology plan - maintenance and vision
· financial plan
· system for recognition process

A brief discussion was held on presentation of the School Committee budget at the City Council
Finance and Property meeting June 9, 1999.
The meeting adjourned at 6:57 PM.
