A special meeting of the Beverly School Committee was held on Monday,
June 1, 1998 in the School Committee Room, Briscoe Middle School,
Beverly, MA.
Members Present:
Mr. Bjork, Mrs. Brusil, Mr. Cahill, Mrs. Frutiger,
and Mrs. Goodenough.
Members Absent:
Mr. McHugh and Mayor ScanIon.
Also in Attendance:
William Lupini, Superintendent of Schools,
Keith Manville, Assistant Superintendent, and
Judy Mulligan, School Business Manager.
Mrs. Goodenough called the meeting to order at 8:44 PM.
GOAL SETTING
Superintendent Goals
Discussion on Superintendent Goals focused on continuation of the 1997-98
goals with emphasis on supervision and evaluation. Mr. Lupini included
additional goals as: tech plan update, long-term financial plan, creation and
implementation of in-service training for principals in all areas (particularly
supervision and evaluation).
Members urged the Superintendent to delete the plan for moving students
during building projects as that was completed in 1997-98.
School Committee Goals
Discussion was held and agreement by consensus on the following goals:
· Revision and update of policy manual presently in process
° School Committee Retreat to focus on setting parameters for
assessment and measurement of success within the system.
· Development of a long-term financial plan and a foundation budget.
The meeting closed at 9:47 PM.
