Lauren Young , Elizabeth Caputo, Lisa McFadden
Board members absent:
Others present: Joan Fairbank, Recreation Director, Artie Sullivan, Asst Director
Minutes of previous meeting were amended: Lisa McFadden was present, Dave Gardner was not. Accepted as
amended.
TOUCH A TRUCK: over 2000 attended and everyone had a great time.
AHEARN PROJECT: Joan reported that the project is going well due to Artie’s great organization and coordination
between departments.
Discussed the letters in support of “no dog policy”, including Lauren’s. It was felt that those letters should be sent to
the City Council right away.
It was suggested that a review of the rules and regulations governing the parks would be a good topic of the month.
FIELD USE FEES: Artie reported that Chris Bradley approved a separate field use fee for independent groups using
city fields to run camps or clinics for profit. Artie suggested $10 per hr. Discussion was held on why we are not
charging the youth leagues for using the fields. Money would help cover maintenance costs. Bruce reported that
most leagues put money into the fields they use by doing their own maintenance, reseeding, etc. A flat fee per day
or per head was also discussed. A motion was made to accept Artie’s proposal for now but review it in the fall.
Motion carried with all in favor.
