MASTER PLAN
§
A “draft” copy was presented and discussed. It was decided to add the number of players in all the sports
leagues playing in Beverly (inside and out) to show the need for new facilities. Lauren was given a list by
League.
§
Discussed Phil’s recommendations for fields
DIRECTOR’S REPORT
§
February was very busy. Most of the camp slots have been sold and the evening classes are packed. We have
already registered more than last fall. People are very happy with the new brochure format.
§
Spoke to Dawn Goodwin who is purchasing some benches and tables for Balch, as well as, a sign.
§
Joan expressed the need for some new tables at Lynch to replace the wood tables. She spoke to Phil about
installing tables on permanent pads so they can not be moved around as they are now. This was done at Dane.
§
Requests from Dix Park neighbors who have a web page for their park fund raiser and and asked to link it to our
site, which has been done. They also are requesting a different sign for donors other than the one that was
suggested by the Commission. A plaque was discussed.
§
Discussed Mari’s maternity leave and how all her projects will get done.
§
Discussed summer park program. It was agreed that Dix Park should be staffed. North Beverly will be
unavailable due to school construction.
NEW BUSINESS
§
Discussed a person who is willing to donate a significant amount of money for the upkeep and preservation of the
Norwood Pond area. Donor wants area to be as passive as possible. The Mayor wants specific recommendations

from the Commission. Meeting has been set for March 22 at the Library for Open Space and Recreation
Commission to set up some recommendations.
§
A meeting was also set up to walk the property. Group will meet at the North Beverly School on Saturday, March
10 at 8 am. Open Space Committee will be invited to join the Commission.
§
Discussed the vacancy on the Commission due to the resignation of Ivy Mahan. Everyone was asked to send
their suggestions to Joan or Tom.
§
Preparation of new budget was discussed. Deadline is end of April.
