2004-02-05 MINUTES – BEVERLY LICENSE BOARD – FEBRUARY 5, 2004 Meeting called to order at 6:00. Present: Members Richard Kelley, Ronald Ranta and George Heller, Board Clerk Linda Giallongo and Police Lt. John Roccio Chairman Kelley introduced the members of the Board. 1. Johnson Golf Management – Mary Jo Girard present representing Johnson Golf. Chairman Kelley advised Ms. Girard that Johnson Golf was hold a license and expect that it should be used throughout the year as it is not a seasonal license. She explained th that the 19 Hole Pub was open but the restaurant was not yet open. There was discussion about having a beverage cart. Clerk instructed to contact Peter Fontaine, Manager of Beverly Golf and Tennis, to notify him that restaurant needs to be open and to ascertain plans for the golf cart. 2. Crackers – Board invited Brian MacDonald to appear to discuss his plans for his license as Crackers is closed. Mr. MacDonald was present and informed the Board that he was working with brokers but had nothing definitive. Attorney Martin Arsenault was present representing the landlord. He informed the Board that Salem District Court has issued a judgment. Discussion followed. He also wanted to inform the Board that the Beverly National Bank has a security interest in the license. Attorney Arsenault was informed of the Board’s policy to allow the license holder a reasonable amount of time to try to do something with the license. They informed him that they were concerned that the license was not being used, but would give Mr. MacDonald an opportunity. The Board felt it was too early to move on revoking the license. Discussion followed. Minutes – February 5, 2004 Page 2 3. Pisani’s Market – Application for Sunday opening. Application was received from Pervez Chowdhury, Pisani’s Market requesting approval to be allowed to be open for seven days, including Sunday. Discussion followed. Upon a motion duly made and seconded, approval was granted to Pisani’s Market to be open on all Sundays. It was also mentioned that Pisani’s needed to clean up the outside of their building. There were four temporary signs, which by ordinance are allowed for 30 days but had been up much longer. Mr. Chowdhury agreed to take down the signs. 4. One day licenses – Upon a motion duly made and seconded requests for one day th licenses from Endicott College and Prides/Farms 4 of July Committee were approved. Next meeting to be held on March 4.
