2003-01-16BEVERLY LICENSE BOARD MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 16, 2003 The regular meeting of the Beverly License Board was held on Thursday, January 16, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber. All members were present: Richard S. Kelley, Chairman, George Heller and Ronald Ranta, Esquire. Crystal Atherton, Clerk, took the Minutes of the meeting. The City Collector’s Department of the City of Beverly notified the License Board that check for the renewal fee for Chickie’s Restaurant has been returned to the City marked ‘PAYMENT STOPPED” ‘DO NOT REDEPOSIT.” It also appears that Chickie’s Restaurant is closed to the public for business. Therefore, Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED: to revoke the license of Chickie’s for default on the payment of the licensing fee. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED: to send a letter to Chickie’s, with a copy to the Police Department, in which they are informed that their license has failed to renew due to non-payment of the required license fee, and that they must return their 2003 License forthwith to the License Board. Their license to sell all-alcoholic beverages in the City of Beverly expired on December 31, 2002. The License Board has also been made aware that the Madison Grill appears to be closed. The Board will continue to monitor the activity of the Licensee. The Board also received and placed on file a letter from the Health Department notifying the License Board that a violation had taken place relative to the sale of tobacco products (selling tobacco products to a minor) at Cabot Liquors, 285 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED: to authorize Crystal Atherton, the License Clerk for the License Board, to sign correspondence on behalf of the members of the License Board consistent with motions made by the Board. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED: To send a letter to the Italian Community Club notifying them that the Board has received a letter from Joan-Elizabeth Cunha, the daughter of Peter Liberti, notifying the Board that Mr. Liberti had died on December 5, 2002. Ms. Cunha requested that Mr. Liberti’s name be removed from all licenses issued to the Italian Community Club. The Italian Community Club must file the necessary papers to name a new Manager of the Club. The License Board signed two new licenses, which had been approved by the ABCC: Commonwealth Liquors, Inc., 43 Dodge Street and Cynget, Inc. at 24 West Street. The License Board also signed several Common Victuallar Licenses after review of the applicant’s applications. The next meeting of the License Board will be held on February 6, 2003, at 6:00 P.M.
