MINUTES OF MEETING-LICENSE BOARD - OCTOBER 16, 1997
Meeting called to order at 6:12 p.m.
Mr. Cook and Mr. Heller present. Because of Mr. Terry's absence
Mr. Cook was Acting Chairman and he introduced the Board.
1. Bella Italia dba Bella Venezia - At the regular October meeting
the Board heard an application for a change in location of Bella
Venezia to 218 Cabot Street. Because of lack of notice to the
First Baptist Church a new public hearing was advertised for this
evening.
Sheila Alvarez present and submitted the items as follows: Green
cards of Notice and Affidavit of Service, Consent to the Assignment
and a Floor Plan. She stated that she had complied with what the
Board had requested.
Mr. Cook stated that this was a special meeting held to accommodate
the applicant.
Mr. Cook - Have you heard from the churches or the school? No.
Have complied with the sections of the Statute? Yes. Hope to open
middle of next month assuming approval comes back from Boston.
Mr. Cook - You are the manager? Yes. You also serve as manager at
Bella Verona in Salem? Yes, it is small - 30 seats. Bella Verona
will be open 5:00-10:00 p.m. Have been open for lunch as a
courtesy for Beverly customers. Bella Venezia is open 11:30 a.m. -
2:30 p.m. and 5:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Discussion followed -
You manage both restaurants. Yes, have for over a year. Mr. Cook
asked if there was anyone present either in favor or opposed to the
application. No one present. Mr. Cook closed the hearing.
Mr. Heller - Motion that the Board approve the application for a
change in location of Bella Venezia to 218 Cabot Street and to
change the license to include cordials and liqueurs. Seconded by
Mr. Cook. Motion carried 2-0.

2. One day license from the Palardys for a Halloween Party
Fundraiser at their home.
Mr. Heller - Motion to approve license.
Motion carried 2-0.
Seconded by Mr. Cook.
3. Miscellaneous -
Mr. Cook stated he would write the decision concerning Bella
Venezia.
Next meeting to be held on November 6.
Meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m
