GEORGE HELLER LICENSE BOARD CITY OF BEVERLY MASSACHUSETTS BEVERLY LICENSE BOARD MINUTES - JULY 2, 1998 Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. Members Cook and Heller present. Mr. Cook, Acting Chairman, introduced the Board. 1. Transfer of license at Rollo's to Ray Howell dba Sports Page Pub. Attorney Jack Altshuler present representing Ray Howell. Appearing before the Board to transfer the license. He has been in the liquor business for 22 years. Began as bar manager at the Press Box since 1984. Rollo's is a small bar, a working man's bar. Wants to change it into a sports bar with pub menu. Will fix the place up which it needs. Is a mess. Change will mostly be inside. Would like to clean up the outside. Has taken TIPS Course. Gone through the courses given by the Health Department. He was discharged from his position at the Press Box when they found out he was applying for this license. Mr. Altshuler presented return receipts and Affidavit of Service. How long for renovations? Application says 6 months but that is at the outside as far as time. Question 3 - Typographical error - should be $20,000 not $29,000. What about the lease? Sitva will sign the lease. Anyone present in favor of the application? No. Anyone present opposed to the application? No. Mr. Heller - Motion that the current license be transferred to G & J Sports Inc. dba Sports Page Pub, 374 Rantoul Street. Seconded by Mr. Cook. Motion carried 2-0. July 2, 1998 Page 2 2. One day licenses at Endicott College - Vantage - one-day Beer and Wine at Endicott College on 7/25. Concierge, Inc. July 14 - Beer and Wine Coopers ahd Lybrand - July 30 - Beer and Wine MaryBeth Swanson - August 8 - Beer and Wine Mr. Heller - Motion made to approve these licenses. Seconded by Mr. Cook - Motion carried 2-0. Other one-day licenses: ICC - July 25 and 26 - For affairs to be held in the parking lot at the ICC - Motion made and seconded to approve the licenses. Carried 2-0. Trustees of Reservations - July 11, Beer and Wine, July 18, All Alcoholic, July 25, All Alcoholic. Motion made and seconded to approve licenses. Motion carried 2-0. YMCA - for the Fund Raising Auction - November 7 - All Alcoholic - Motion made and seconded to approve the~ license -- Motion carried 2-0. Express Yourself - License for a fund raiser. Board had questions. Mr. Heller to check it out. Motion made and seconded to defer approval until the next meeting. Motion carried 2-0. Communication from the MA State Lottery Commission re Borah's application for a Keno License. Received and placed on file. Next meeting will be July 23.
