LICENSE BOARD CITY OF BEVERLY MASSACHUSETTS MINUTES - BEVERLY LICENSE BOARD Aoril 15, 1999 Meeting called to order at 6:06 p.m. Members Kelley and Heller present. Lt. Roccio present. Board introduced. 1) Something Different Restaurant - application for a Wine and Malt Restaurant License. Linda Johansen owner. Will Gourdeau from the Airport Commission present. He is in favor of the restaurant. Mr. Kelley- Rent property from tenant who rents from City? Yes, opened July 1998. Hope that when construction is done can expand hours. Mr. Ranta joined the meeting. Sewer line will be finished soon. Hoping people will stop when they come out of work. Currently open Tuesday - Sunday 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. On Sundays, want to serve Mimosas from noon to 3:00. It is a popular place for breakfast and lunch. Minutes - April 15, 1999 Mr. Heller- What is occupancy? 35 limit because of water. Anticipate 75-100 when road is finished. How do you own the business? Sole proprietor. No pledging involved? No. Chairman Kelley asked for comments from the audience. No one else present. Green cards, copy of ad with affidavit certifying abutters were notified submitted. Motion - Mr. Heller- That a Wine and Malt License be approved in the name of Linda Johansen, Something Different Restaurant. Seconded by Mr. Ranta. Motion carded 3-0. 2) Change of Manager at Siam Delight. Frank Grielish present representing Siam Delight. She is working 40 hours plus. Ann limited experience in the alcohol program. This week began TIPS program. Siam Delight located at 150 Cabot Street, 40-44 seats. Lunch. serves mostly to business people, evenings there are mostly couples. Two waitresses presently certified. She is married to one of the shareholders. How long been in operation? Six months. Experience in the restaurant limited. Did work in her father's business and managed that. Have you worked Siam Delight since it opened? Yes. Motion - Mr. Ranta - To approve the appointment of the new manager. Seconded by Mr. Heller. Motion carded 3-0. Minutes - April 15, 1999 Page 3 3) Miscellaneous- Kitty O'Shea's -Report from ABCC re overcrowding. Send copy to Fire Department. Input from Lt. Roccio. Will submit report next meeting. TJ's Pub- Tabled. One-day licenses -Motion made and seconded to approve the following licenses: Montserrat College- Approve with the stipulation they will get a waiver from the Board of Aldermen to serve alcohol on City property.
