LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT
January 22, 2002
Beverly Farms Branch Library
- I attended a meeting at the Massachusetts Historical Commission
for Project Coordinators of projects that received preservation project grants. The MHS staff
outlined procedures for these projects and we met the MHS staff coordinators assigned to each of
our projects. Two days later, I met with our architects, Drayton Fair and Steve Feighy of Tappe, the
Assistant Building Inspector, the Fire Inspector, and or projector coordinator from MHS to tour the
building and review the plans.
We have also received the final plans for the landscaping from our landscape architect, Clara
Batchelor. I met with Clara and the Farms Fund Raising Committee to review the plans.
Budget
- We have been notified of our state aid figures for FY 2002. Due to the State budget crises,
our state aid was reduced by about $6,000.
Personnel
- We have hired Jo-Ann Roy, currently Adult Services Librarian at the Manchester Public
Library, to replace Mary Harvey as Assistant Adult Services Librarian. Jo-Ann started work on
January 14. Jo-Ann has a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons College.
We had a very strong pool of applicants for this job.
