John Young presided.
This was a special meeting to review the changes in the proposed FY2003 budget.
The City Council will hold a public hearing on the budget on Monday, June 17, 2002 at 7:00 P.M.
The City Council will review the Library budget on Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at 7:00 P.M.
The finance director cut $101,470.82 out of the library’s original budget proposal. The following
line items were cut: overtime $7,000, part time staff $47,270.82, repairs $6,800, burglar alarm
$400, heating fuel $8,000, books/subscriptions $30,000, library supplies $2,000.
There was a discussion of cuts and possible solutions. The following actions were recommended:
lay off bookmobile driver, lay off college students, reduce high school student help by 25%, close
at 5 P.M. on Fridays. Tom Scully was concerned about the cut in the repair line item.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 P.M.
