2000-11-28City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: November 28, 2000 7:00 P.M. Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Diane Costa, Katherine Fanning, Neil Olson, Kevin O’Reilly, Joanne Panunzio, Helga Senko, and John Young Board members absent: Edward Brindle, Lindsay Diehl Others present: Thomas Scully, Anna Langstaff Recorder: Anna Langstaff John Young presided. Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by Kay Fanning, to accept the minutes of the Long Range Planning Committee of October 24, 2000 as read. Motion passed. Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by Helga Senko, to accept the minutes of the regular meeting of October 24, 2000 as read. Motion passed. Tom Scully gave the trustees a tour of the bookmobile. Public Presentation None Committee Reports Personnel: No report. Administration: No report. Finance: Neil Olson relayed a message from Edward Brindle that, depending on the budget status, it may be necessary to schedule a finance committee meeting. Long Range Planning: No report. Report of the Library Director 1) Copies of the Director’s report (on file with these minutes) were mailed to Trustees. 2) Capital Expenditure List: Tom Scully distributed a project list. 3)Budget: Tom Scully reported on possible budget cuts. Tom Scully will contact trustees if some of these budget cuts need to be acted upon. Communications None Unfinished Business None New Business 1) Farms Fund Raising: John Young thought that once the Farms Building fund-raising list becomes public, it would look good if trustees had made a donation to the Farms Building Fund. 2) Farms Nutcracker Tea: Sunday, December 10 1-3 PM. 3) Volunteer Tea: Tuesday, December 5 3-5 PM. The next regular meeting of the Board will be Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at 7:00 PM at the Main Library. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:40 P.M. LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT November 28, 2000 Beverly Farms Library - Dr. and Mrs. Robert Seamans hosted a fund-raising meeting at their home for about 40 potential donors. The speakers were myself, Kerry Healey of the Fund Raising Committee and Tony Tappe and Drayton Fair, architects. School/Library Cooperation - The Superintendent has contacted me about meeting to discuss opening some school libraries. Opening school buildings for after hours use is something which is being encouraged as part of the Education Reform program. Public Meeting Minutes - The part of our web page that contains the public meeting minutes is up and running successfully and is attracting 50 hits per day.
