2002-01-22City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Finance Committee Date: January 22, 2002 6:30 P.M. Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Joanne Avallon, Edward Brindle, Lindsay Diehl, Neil Olson, Kevin O’Reilly, Joanne Panunzio, and John Young Board members absent: , Helga SenkoDiane Costa Others present: Thomas Scully, Anna Langstaff Recorder: Anna Langstaff Edward Brindle presided. The trustees met to review the operating budget for this year at the six month mark and to see if any of the items that reflect changes during the six months will have any bearing on the preparation for next year’s budget. Some items reviewed: 1) Custodial overtime is used to cover vacations. 2) Longevity is a one time payment. 3) Electric, repairs, and equipment repair accounts are chronically underfunded. 4) Uniforms account is usually a one time payment, a contractual obligation. 5) Book budget: big bills are due in the spring, not equally distributed throughout the year. 6) Employees’ contract expires June 30, 2002. 7) Tom Scully estimated that the bookmobile will probably last a few more years. Tom Scully would like to increase the general repair account from $10,000 to $25,000, the electric account from $75,000 to $85,000, the heating fuel account from $40,000 to $45,000, and the book account from $200,000 to $215,000. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:02 P.M.
