Mrs. Calish presented a copy of the proposed 1982/83 budget for the committee to review.
A discussion took place on what differences in library services would ensue if level funding were
maintained and what type of budget would be needed to keep the library functioning as it is now.
Mrs. Calish also noted the need for the mayor to give the Trustees a hearing for the library budget
this year.
Lester Ayers proposed that the Committee recommend the proposed budget to the Trustees
as an honest estimate of what the library needs to function, and the Committee agreed to present the
budget as meeting the basic needs of the library. A suggestion was made to include for the Trustees'
information cost comparisons for books, materials and inflation since the 1979/80 budget was
prepared.
