Scanlan, Director of Public Health, Richard Montoni, Code Enforcement Officer, Leo Panunzio, Milk and Food Inspector, Robert Russo, Plumbing Inspector, and Joseph W. Walsh, Jr., Sanitarian Recorder: Joseph W. Walsh, Jr. BOARD OF HEALTH - CONTINUATION OF RECESSED MEETING - March 6, 1970 Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. Members present were Dr. Fine, Angelo Massa, and A. J. Callahan, Jr. Also attending was Joseph Walsh, Jr. After considerable discussion as to the merits of Mayor Grimes' proposal to incorporate both garbage and rubbish in one collection, using District #5 as the test area, the Board approved the concept but wanted more information and requested Mr. Walsh to make a continuing study of this proposal and other collection and disposal techniques. Mr. Walsh will submit his report to the Board of Health as soon as all information is obtained. Therefore, the Board of Health unanimously felt that the collection of the garbage shordd be done by private contractors as in the past and voted to award the contracts to the low bidders in each of the following districts: District # 1- Anibal Teixeira & Son $17,000.00 District # 2 - Eastern Contract Disposal Inc. $26,250.00 District # 3 - Eastern Contract Disposal Inc. $13,425.00 District # 4 - Fred Waselchuk $21,000.00 District # 5 - Albert F. Lawler $13,520.00 TOTAL $91,195.00 Walsh was instructed to inspect Mr. Fred Waselchuk's equipment and check with the Town of Nahant as to his performance before they could award the District #4 contract to him. Board members signed the bill schedules and garbage contracts before adjourning the meeting at 9:30 p.m. FOR: Thomas H. Scanlan Director of Public Health BY: Joseph W. Walsh, Jr. Sanitarian ADDENDUM TO MARCH 6, 1970 SPECIAL MEETING On March 9, 1970, Mr. Walsh reported to the Board that on Sunday, March 8, 1970 he had inspected Mr. Fred Waselchuk's covered garbage truck and found it to be in satisfactory condition. A telephone conversation with Mr. Charles Kelly, Selectman of the Town of Nahant where Mr. Waselchuk has a contract to collect garbage disclosed that his work was excellent with a minimum of complaints.
