Conrad, Howard W. Cole, Diane M. Isenberg, Robert W. Lovett, Mieth Maeser, Dr. Cornelius J. Murray, Albert J. Ricci, Barbara D. Risley, and Carolyn F. Standley Board members absent: Others present: Recorder: Florence A. Luther Thursday, November 19, 1970 The regular meeting was held at the Library on the above date. Present were Mrs. Conrad, presiding, Mr. Ricci, Miss Standley, Mr. Maeser, Dr. Murray, Mr. Lovett, Mrs. Risley, Mrs. Isenberg and Mr. Cole. Meeting adjourned at 5:45 P.M. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Administration Mrs. Conrad reported (1) work done on Farms fence and that the Loring memorial marker over the gate is missing; (2) roof at Farms developing a leak due perhaps to the fact that children are climbing up on it; (3) proposed capital project report was submitted to Mayor along with 1971 proposed budget. Bids for plastering and painting taken under advisement by Administration Committee. Horton $1245.00 plus $195.00 Pigulski 2484.00 (one mount) W. K. Rust 5500.00 or 6100.00 (unsigned) Circulation graphs and reports of Department heads presented. Mrs. Schwartz, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Henebry, representatives of the League of Women Voters, met at both the Main Library and the Farms Branch. Mr. Altshuler, Bookmobile Librarian, had accident while driving on Thorndike Street. Minor damage done to fender of car owned by Empire Clothing Company and operated by Benjamin Goldberg. Report from Andover meeting concerning State Aid was that payment would be made in two installments. $9,027.00 would be received as usual. The second payment, $4,513.50, would be available as soon as funds are appropriated by the Legislature. VOTED that Library will close at 5 P.M. on evening before Thanksgiving and Christmas & New Years. Mr. Lovett reported on recent Trustees' meeting and the fact that the D. A. R. intend to give the Library 4100 for the purchase of books on the American Revolution. VOTED to consider Mr. Kenneth Shatfer, Director of Simmons College, as a consultant. VOTED to arrange interview with Mr. ShatTer on December 1, 2, or 3. Meeting adjourned at 5:45 P.M. Florence A. Luther Clerk
