Thursday, May 21, 1970 4 P.M.
The regular meeting was held at the Library on the above date. Present were Mrs. Conrad, presiding,
Miss Standley, Dr. Murray, Mr. Maeser, Mr. Lovett, Mrs. Risley, Mrs. Isenberg.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Financial sheet was studied.
Administration:
Mr. Maeser reported the balcony is to be repaired.
Mrs. Conrad had contacted Public Works Commissioner Beaulieu concerning outside and
inside paint. After a conference with Mr. Clark, foreman, it appears that the major items will
be done by private contract. The iron work will be done by the City painters.
The reports of the Department heads were read.
Mrs. Risley will write John Orlowski in recognition of his scrapbook on pollution.
The Librarian will meet with Mrs. McGordll concerning position as Cataloger - Step XVI.
Since there was some question about the make-up of tables to be ordered, a sample is
requested.
Communications:
Estimates on painting interior rooms were received from William K. Lazarkis, Desmond &
Larcom, and Trussell Construction Company. After considering estimates and discussions
with Mr. Clark and other painters interested In the Library, the decision, due to the very bad
condition of the plaster, was to further study the feasibility of painting.
From Mayor Grimes a letter requesting the selection of two persons from the Board to serve
on the proposed building commission. The Mayor will designate the third member and reserve
the fight to name the chairman of said commission.
Voted unanimously that Mr. Maeser and Mrs. Conrad serve as members of the building
commission.
The Library will start summer hours June 1, closing at 8 o'cloek each evening.
Meeting adjourned at 5:30 P.M.
Correction: Recommended that all staff members be requested to state needs of library for future
planning.
