Nancy Bender presided.
Kay Fanning moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be accepted. Motion passed.
Report of the Librarian: 1 ) Toby Shindler moved to close the library Friday, July 3rd for the July 4th
holiday. Motion passed. 2) The building is moving ahead of schedule. Foundation is almost done and
steel will be arriving next week. 3) Last Saturday the Friends of the Farms had their house tour and
made almost $7000.4) Financial report through March 31 st was distn~uted. Heating and electric are
in the negative, but the bottom line is still fine. And we still have $34,000. state aid in the bank. City
budget for next year hasn't gone to the Alderman yet. At this time it looks like there will be a $2
million deficit. If that is the case, each department will have to take a 10% cut.
Long Range Planning: 1) The Director and Board Chair attended Friends meeting and requested
funds forthe library's fund raising brochure. The Friends are donating $1500. and the rest of the funds
will come from state aid. We are planning to solicit free printing and hopefully will be ready to begin
campaign in the fall. 2) Posters were distributed for appraisal day. Advertising and promotion ideas
were discussed. (Newsletters, etc.)
Toby Shindler moved that the meeting be adjourned. Motion passed.
