Roll call of members: Diane Costa called the roll.
Present: Nancy Bender, Edward Brindle, Diane Costa, Fran McCarthy, Nell Olson, Susan Salt, Helga
Senko, Toby Shindiet
Absent: Kay Fanning
Also present: Tom Scully: Nancy Tripp
Nancy Bender presided.
Disposition of the minutes of the previous meeting: It was moved by Susan Salt and seconded by
Edward Brindle that the minutes of the previous meeting be accepted. Motion passed.
Committee Reports:
Administration: No meeting - no report
Finance: No report - Trustees were encouraged to attend the Budget meeting of the Finance and
Property Committee of the Board of Aldermen when the library budget is discussed. The Director
will notify Trustees when the meeting is posted.
Personnel: (1) The Personnel Committee met and decided to table Sheila Glowacki's contract. (2) The
Committee recommended that the new union employee contract for three (3) years from 7/1/89
through 6/30/92 be approved. It was moved by Toby Shindler and seconded by Susan Salt to approve
the new union employee contract for three (3) years. Motion passed Edward Brindle abstained.
Long Range Planning: No meeting - no report
Report of the Librarian: (1) The Director and Assistant Director met with Mayor Monaban to discuss
the library's budget. Part time expenses were cut as we will be able to request a supplemental budget.
(2) $70,000 was put in the Building Commission's budget for July 1, 1989.
Communications: (1) A thank you note was received from Nancy Bender. (2) A letter from Jolene
Larsen was received and following discussion was to be referred to the Board of Aldermen.
Unfinished Business: It was decided to hold off on a letter, to the Beverly Rotary Club requesting
funds for a van until we learn whether or not the Board of Aldermen will fund it.
