Regular Meeting
Board of Trustees -- Beverly Public Library
Monday, October 17, 1988 7:30 PM
Present: Nancy Bender, Edward Brindle, Diane Costs., Kay Fanning, Kevin Murphy, Neil Olson,
Susan Salt, Toby Shindler.
Also Present: Thomas Seully and Sheila Glowacki
Susan Salt presided.
Disposition of the minutes of the previous meeting: Edward Brindle moved that the minutes of the
previous meeting be approved. Motion passed.
Committee reports:
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Personnel: Mr. Shindler reported that the committee met and after discussion it was decided
to keep the Assistant Director's proposed contract in abeyance and present it for a vote to the
board at the December meeting so it will go to the Board of Aldermen in January.
The contract with the library union was unanimously approved as presented by the Director.
Long Range Planning: No report.
Librarian's Report: Intent to apply form was submitted for state grant money. The grant application
was received and is due January 4th.
Building Commission: Neil Olson reported that the Commission had met with the architect. With the
acquisition of the Dalton property and asbestos removal the cost of the project will be close to 8
million.
The architect and commissioners also met with the Beverly Historical Commission and the Historical
Commission has approved the building plans.
New Business: Nancy Bender moved that the Board accept the Union contract and to authorize the
President of the Board to sign the contract. Motion passed.
The next meeting will be Monday November 21, 1988 at 7:00 P.M.
