Regular Meeting
Board of Trustees -- Beverly Public Library
October 23, 1985 7:30 p.m.
Present: Richard Buckley, Kay Fanning, Kathleen Henrichon, Fran McCarthy, Nancy White.
Also present: Vada Komich, League of Women Voters.
Kathleen Henrichon presided.
Disposition of the minutes of the previous meeting: Mrs. Calish noted that in the ALA Conference
Report the word "libraries" should be plural not possessive. Nancy White moved that the minutes of
the previous meeting be accepted as corrected. Motion passed.
Committee reports: Personnel: No report.
Administration: In the absence of Kevin Murphy, Mrs. Calish reported that the plasterer would like
to start on the Beverly Room by the end of this week or early next week. L'Italian will be doing the
work.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: The L.P.R, Committee did not meet but asked the Board how to proceed with
choosing an architect/consultant after all the proposals were received on the 31 st. Richard Buckley
suggested that the L.P.R. Committee should study the proposals and make recommendations to the
Board by the next meeting.
Librarian's report: 1 .) The Director reported on meetings attended since the last Board meeting. 2.)
The 130th Anniversary Celebration will begin with the Bookworm's Ball to be held Sunday December
15. Also the High Moon Players will be performing a murder mystery at the library on January 18 as
a fund raiser for the Friends. 3 .) Richard Bucldey moved to give permission to the Director to apply
for a $1,000. grant each from the Arts Lottery and the New England Foundation for the Arts for a
Literature Live series. Motion passed. 4.) The Bookmobile is officially back on the road.
New Business: The Friends of the Farms will have their Annual Meeting on November 7.
The next meeting will be Monday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m.
The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
