Massa Board members absent: Dr. Jacob H. Fine, chair Others present: Thomas H. Scanlan, Director of Public Health, Richard Montoni, Code Enforcement Officer, Leo Panunzio, Milk and Food Inspector, Robert Russo, Plumbing Inspector, and Joseph W. Walsh, Jr., Sanitarian Recorder: Joseph W. Walsh, Jr. Board of Health - Monthly Meeting - April 7 1969 Meeting called to order at 6:15 p.m. Members present were Angelo R. Massa, presiding, and A. J. Callahan, Jr. Also attending were Thomas Scanlan, Robert Russo, Leo Panunzio, Joseph W. Walsh, Richard Montoni, and Michael J. Miano of the Northeast Burn-Zol corporation. The Board members approved and signed the monthly bill schedules and also the appointment of Dr. James Fanning as the Inspector of Slaughtering. The Board members also signed the following Funeral Directors' Licenses: Frank T. Campbell Charles E. Campbell John T. Curry Raymond P. Bick, William L. Moody Richard W. Russell 525 Cabot Street 525 Cabot Street 43 Bow Street 43 Bow Street 9 Dane Street 9 Dane Street OLD BUSINESS Incinerator The Board discussed the Purity Supreme Incinerator plans. The Board members along with Mr. Miano, Mr. Walsh, Mr. Russo, Mr. Panunzio, Mr. Callahan, and Mr. Massa went to the Purity-Supreme Market on Enon Street and discussed the plans at the location. The gentlemen returned to the Board of Health Office, and there was more discussion pro and con with the following recommendations agreed upon by the Board members: 1. That another set of plans be submitted by the Purity Supreme Market through the Northeast Burn-Zol Corporation showing: a. The lay-out to be approved by the Beverly Building Department; b. Showing a charge room with minimum 5 ft. X 8 ft., dimension; c. Platform plans showing door to charge room; d. Construction of the outside platform; e. Ventilation in the Charging Room; f. Material and construction of platform; g. Dry well for waste or sewer. (State highway sewer cannot be used. States owns the catch basins, and according to Mr. Smith of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, they will not approve tearing up the State road.) The Board members were given copies of the 1968 Board of Health report, also copies of the Dump Site report by Camp, Dresser, & McKee. The Board discussed possible changes in the present Incinerator Regulation, and postponed any action until a later date. Clerk-Typist The Board tabled any discussion on the appointment of a permanent Clerk-Typist until the May Board meeting. NEW BUSINESS Sea-Breeze The Board of Health approved a letter sent to the Sea-Breeze regarding their spring check-up before opening. Code Enforcement Seminar The Board of Health voted to approve the attendance of Mr. Walsh and Mr. Montoni at a Code Enforcement Administrative Seminar in Boston on June 14-18. Beverly Licensing Board The Board of Health voted to accept the recommendation of Mr. Panunzio that a letter be sent to the Beverly Licensing Board requesting that they notify the Board of Health prior to the granting of liquor licenses to new owners or upon title changes. Bob' s Fruit Market Mr. Robert Normand, owner of Bob's Fruit Market, Enon Street, Beverly appeared before the Board of Health and asked for a one week's extension of time to install the hot water required by our inspectors. Mr. Normand was given until April 14, 1969 to secure this water or cease operating. Meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Respectfully submitted, FOR: Thomas H.
