Roll Call of Members:
Present were: Mary K. Connots, Dr. Edna McGlynn, Lester Ayers, Nancy White and Richard
BuckIcy. Also present were: Esther Calish and Barbara Smith.
The following documents were distributed: February financial report; February statistics.
Mr. Ayers presided in the absence of Mr. Olson.
Minutes were accepted as presented. Motion was made by Mr. BuckIcy and seconded by Ms.
Cormors. Motion earfled.
Committee Reports:
1251h Anniversary Committee: Nancy White reported that all preparations had been made for the
Trustees reception for the Friends, staff and volunteers on Sunday, April 5 at 6 p.m. The Broken
Consort will provide musical entertainment and the plaques will be ready by the previous Friday. She
did request that everyone respond to his invitation so that we would have a count for the caterer.
Mrs. Calish reminded everyone of the Fine Arts Compgtition reception at Montserrat School on
Sunday, April 26 at 7 p.m. She is hoping one of the bank presidents will present the awards.
Endicott College has video-taped and recorded the Beverly Remembered program which will cost
us only the price of the tapes, to be taken from the 1251h money. Their secretarial classes may also
transcribe the tapes but this is not yet certain.
The dosing event will be Sunday, September 20, exactly 125 years at~er the library opened. Special
programs will be planned, one of which will be the priming of Bob Lovett's history of the library.
Administration: The Wake~61d attorney will meet with the Board at either the April or May meeting
to go over the consortium agreement.
Personnel: Mr. Olson has signed the contract and it has gone to the Mayor.
Finance: Dog tax has been received and will go to purchase books. Although the fuel money is
expended, we hope that enough will be left in other categories to see us through the end of the year.
State aid money has been deposited in the general fund. Mrs. Calish suggested that some members
call the Mayor and urge him to credit it to the library.
Report of the Librarian: Mrs. Calish reported that Will Barnet had been in and had left a beautiful
poster. Computer training is proceeding well.
The programs for National Library Week are contained in the Rotunda which will go out next week.
on April 6, Mrs. Calish will show the library's slide-tape presentation to the Aldermen.
Unfinished Business: The Easter Sunday dosing agreed upon at the February 20 meeting stands.
Upon motion of Ms. White, seconded by Mr.. Buckley, the meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m. The next
regular meeting will be Thursday, April 16, 1981 at 7:45 p.m.
