Callahan, Jr. OLD BUSINESS The monthly schedules were approved and signed. The monthly reports of the Plumbing Inspector, Sanitarian and Public Health Nurses were approve as read. There was no report from the Milk and Food Inspector due to the fact that he has been out sick for the month. Incinerator The Board of Health would like to have the State Division of Engineering put a stamp of approval on the Purity Supreme incinerator plans and also would like to see the new plan. The Board would like to initiate a study in order to set up a schedule for various types of commercial incinerators so that guidelines may be set up for the building of future incinerators. The Director advised the Board that he had allowed Purity Supreme Market to burn trash on Wednesday only, March 5, 1969 in order to remedy a dangerous fire hazard due to the accumulation of trash and rubbish. This was granted by the Director after a conference with the Fire Prevention Bureau (Capt. Eastwood). See March 5, 1969 letter. Civil Service Flyers Mr. Callahan raised the question as to whether the civil service flyer advertising the position of Code Enforcement Inspector was in order and said that it was his understanding that this position was a separate department and not under the general supervision of the director and the direct supervision of the Sanitarian. It was also his opinion that this matter was thrashed out in New York in December. Mr. Callahan further stated that he did not receive a copy of that report compiled by Mr. Walsh on his return from New York. After considerable pro and con discussion in regard to the question and the report, the Director assured Mr. Callahan that he would receive a copy of the report, and that the question of monthly reports would be taken up at the next meeting. In addition, the Director told the Board that the School Dentist exam was posted for April 1, 1969 and the Code Enforcement Inspector exam was posted for March 29, 1969. NEW BUSINESS Inspector of Slaughtering The nomination of Dr. Fanning as Inspector of Slaughtering was approved and signed by the Board members. Monthly Meetings It was unanimously voted by the Board that all inspectors of the department appear at the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Health for the purpose of asking questions and giving answers in regard to any problems that might arise. Monthly reports should be submitted to the Director by the first Monday of each month so that they can be available for the 6:00 p.m. meeting. 552 Essex Street The Director reported that he had given the Planning Board a final approval to the John Tagney sub-division located at 552 Essex Streett with the provision that they follow the recommendations of the Plumbing Inspector as outlined in a letter to the Board of Health. Meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted, FOR: Thomas H. Scanlan Director of Public Health BY: Joseph W. Walsh, Jr. Sanitarian
