March 16, 1978 7:45 P.M.
Present: Dr. MeGlynn, Mr. Loring, Mrs. Morency, Mr. Olson.
Since we did not have a quorum, no business was transacted.
Mrs. Calish read following monthly division reports: Youth Services, Children's Room, Media
Services, Reference and Circulation.
Mrs. Calish reported that Warning notices that cars will be towed on March 20 were put on
windshields of cars in parking lot today. She would like a committee of Trustees appointed to look
into parking lot problems and make a study.
Discussion of our policy to stop lending our own films because of high cost of repairing damage done
to them.
Also, there was a discussion of new copyright law. Mrs. Calish stated that we have posted copies of
the law on all our copy machines.
Mrs. Calish asked permission to call a special meeting for purpose of discussing union contract,
formation of committees and selection of Chairman of Board. Meeting is to be March 30 at 7:45 P.M.
Mr. Olson asked procedure for personnel appointments. Mrs. Calish gave him the information; she
also stated that Michael Williams had been hired as new Special Services Librarian. He will start work
on March 27.
Mrs. Calish discussed meeting on March 9 with Mayor for review of our 78/79 budget. He made few
cuts. Several days later she received our budget back with a letter from the Mayor stating that budget
was unacceptable and to make cuts and keep it more in line with 1977/78 budget. We are now
working on making further cuts.
