1969-03-20 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 03/20/1969 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Louisa V. Conrad, Robert W. Lovett, Mieth Maeser, Barbara D. Risley, and Carolyn F. Standley Board members absent: Diane M. Isenberg, Dr. Cornelius J. Murray, Albert J. Ricci, and Thomas J. Tooracy Others present: Recorder: Florence A. Luther Thursday, March 20, 1969 4 p.m. The regular meeting was held at the Library on the above date. Present were Mrs. Conrad, presiding, Miss StandIcy, Mr. Maeser, Mr. Lovett and Mrs. Risley. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. It was reported that: Mrs. Cook had broken her leg and would be out for sometime. For administration: The from steps need pointing up. Library patrons complaining constantly of parking. Some trees were broken in the storm at Beverly Farms. Communications: Letters were received from the principal of the Farms school and the Sister Superior at St. Margaret's expressing appreciation for the services rendered at the Beverly Farms Library. Mr. Hatch concerning H1333. He stated that at the present time he favors the bill. Bureau of Library Extension approving State Aid of $9,027. Dr. Page concerning Mrs. White. She is cleared medically to return to full time employment. VOTED: Part-time help be paid. $1.00 per hour for Junior High students. $1.35 per hour for High School students. $1.50 - $1.85 per hour for college students. This to take effect on the next payroll. VOTED: When Mrs. White returns after her six month leave of absence, she be requested to take over Mrs. Cook's position of Young Adults Librarian at the central library, since that position is temporarily vacant because of Mrs. Cook's accident. Mrs. Cook will be out for an indeterminate time. Vote was unanimous by all Trustees present. The basis of the above motion was to serve the best interests of the Library at this time. VOTED: To dose the Library from one to three o'eloek on Good Friday. Meeting adjourned at 6 P.m. Florence A. Luther Clerk
