1967-01-12 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 01/12/1967 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Louisa V. Conrad, Mieth Macset, Robert W. LoveR, Dr. Cornelius J. Murray, Carolyn F. StandIcy, and Thomas J. Tooracy Board members absent: Anne P. Bryant, Frank P. Hyde, and Frederick H. Pierce Others present: Recorder: Marion A. Brown THURSDAY, JANUARY 12, 1967 4 P.M. The regular meeting of Trustees was held at the Library on the above date. In attendance were Mrs. Conrad, presiding, Miss Standley, Mr. Tooracy, Mr. Maeser, Dr. Murray and Mr. Lovett. The records of the previous meeting were approved as read. The balances for the year were read and approve& Salaries- $2.82; Maintenance- $1.42; and Trust Funds- $1.64. For Finance, Mr. Tooracy and Mrs. Conrad met with the Mayor to discuss the 1967 Budget. Some increases in Maintenance were reported and $500 allowed to do the corner of the Reading Room: one in canvass and one painted so as to determine which method would prove best. The Budget will be returned at a later date. For Administmtiork Mr. Toomey reported that the ceiling leak at the Farms is probably caused by the freezing of the drain spout. The roof leak at the Main Library will have to be located. Also explained that the light fixture will be installed in the Genealogy Room by the City Electrician as soon as possible. Circulation and the Librarian reports were approved and placed on file, as were the reports of the Department Heads. Mrs. Samuel Batcheider, a Member of the Beverly Park Commission came to the Meeting to present a plan to beautify Beverly Common, as the Mayor would like the approval of the Trustees. After discussion ofthe very excellent plan, the Trustees agreed that it would meet with their approval with only a very few changes. The appointment of a Reference Librarian was discussed after which, at Mr. Toomey's motion and Miss Standley second the motion to appoint Mrs. Minnie Dunklee Reference Librarian to take effect immediately. So Voted to start at $96 per week the start of Group 11 of Yarger Survey. The Eastern Regional Public Library System was discussed, after which on Lovett's motion and 2nd by Mr. Toomey, it was voted to join the Eastern Regional Library Service. Adjourned 5:45 Marion A.
