Board of Trustees Regular Meeting
November 18, 1976 7:30 p.m.
Present: Mrs. Vitale, presiding; Mrs. Fanning, Mrs. Isenberg, Miss Moran, Mr. Pohotsky.
Minutes of the October 21 st meeting were approved.
Committee Reports:
*Committee on Administration (no report)
*Committee on Finance (no report)
*Committee on Personnel (no report)
Librarian's Report (highlights of departmental reports)
*Circulation: With the hiring of Ms. Watts, work is finally getting up to date. Magazines
always messy due to display facilities, many complaints about parking.
*Reference: Beverly Rom has been dosed temporarily until it can be more easily supervised;
we recently received five years of the N.Y. Times on microfilm (worth about $2,500) as a
gift; information desk statistics show heavy use.
*Children's: special displays being planned for Children's Book Week, and Jewish Book
Month.
*Farms Branch: Carpet has finally been installed, movie programs well received, a successful
bookmark program (contest) was run for children.
*AN: Circulation ofjazz records runs high; three new Canadian Travel film have been added;
lobby displays have included the Jewish War Vets and The Rockport Art Assn.
Old Business:
*Final preparations for the Tea to be held in honor of Mrs. E. A. Conrad's long service on the
Board of Trustees were discussed.
*It was decided to hold a spring meeting (possibly May) at the Beverly Farms Branch.
New Business:
*There was a discussion of the "Drat~ Statemere of Purpose" (which had been prepared by
the Head Librarian and Department heads).
*The Librarian reported that arrangements were being made with the Division of Employment
Security to establish an "Outstation" of the latter agency in the library on a trial basis. Two
days a week, Department of Employment Security personnel would be available to interview
job seekers, make referrals, etc.
