*Committee on Administration - no report
*Committee on Finance
1. Report of the meting with Mayor Vitale earlier in the day relative to the 1976/77
budget. Mayor was sympathetic, but said all city budgets would be cut, ours among
them. He was to call the Librarian with details.
2. Monthly financial statement was studied.
3. Librarian reported that $14,380.50 in state aid has been transferred
to our "Maintenance Account", with instructions not to spend the money. It was the
consensus of the Board members that after the Board of Aldermen have finished with
our budget, the librarian should explore the possibility of spending this money for
books.
*Committee on Personnel - no report
Librarian's Report:
*Children's Department: Plans include a historical reading club to be culminated with a bus
trip on the Historic Trail. Also, a Saturday morning reading club for ages 5-7 is to be tried.
*Young Adult Department - reported visiting various community agencies, including Project
RAP and the Miles McPherson Youth Center.
*No other departmental reports received.

*It was the consensus of the Board that the Librarian has the authority to award bids for
goods or services if the appropriate account has sufficient funds, and if the bid meets
advertised specifications.
*Reported that the FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY made approximately $100 in a minibook
sale recently. If feasible (if enough books are either donated or discarded) a sale will be held
the first Sunday in each month to prevent the books from. piling up into unmanageable
quantities.
New Business:
*A recommendation from the librarian that professional librarians (MLS degree) be granted
four weeks of vacation after the first year was tabled due to a 3-3 vote. The matter will be
brought up at the next meeting.
