Conrad, Lester C. Ayers, Richard J. Bronstein, Mieth Maeser, Carolyn F. Standley, Samuel E. Tappan, and Beatrice R. Vitale Board members absent: Diane M. Isenberg, and Michael Ladvee Others present: Recorder: Mark A. Nesse Beverly Public Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting December 12, 1974 Present: Mrs. Conrad, presiding; Mr. Ayers, Mr. Bronstein, Mr. Maeser, Miss Standley, Mr. Tappan and Mrs. Vitale. Minutes of the last meting were read and approved. Committee Reports: Finance * 1975/76 budget as submitted to the Mayor was noted. *Current financial statement, July through November, 1974, was studied. * Specifications for the lavatories have been developed, and an advertisement for bids has been published. Bids to be opened 4:00 P.M., December 20, 1974, and let at the discretion of the committee. Circulation: Librarian commented on the circulation statistics. Farms: No report Bookmobile: Still no action by the mayor on the new bookmobile. Librarian to check on this. Personnel: *Maternity leave policy referred back to committee for further study. VOTED: To authorize the librarian and Personnel committee to recommend to the full board at the January meeting a Farms Branch Librarian from those applying on a 6-month provisional basis. Administration: No report. Librarian's Report: Highlights of departmental reports were noted. Old Business Several suggestions regarding recommendations to the Mayor's Charter Revision Committee were discussed. The following recommendation was agreed upon: That the library be represented on the Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds City Solicitor stated that the Library would not be held responsible for accidents with toys from Friends toy lending library if"reasonable care" used. Disposition the two un-used air conditioners from the Youth Room was referred back to the librarian for further study. Mrs. Marilyn Burke was granted permanem status as a Library Assistant in the Circulation Department. Mrs. Conrad announced that she was giving $200 for the purpose of putting the Social Library in order. Moved to instruct the librarian to write a letter of thanks to Mrs. Conrad.
