Thursday, November 16, 1972 4 P.M.
The regular meeting was held at the Library on the above date. Present were Mrs. Conrad,
presiding, Mr. Maeser, Miss StandIcy, Mr. Lovett, Mr. Tappan, Mrs. Isenberg and Mrs. Risley.
The minutes of the last meeting read and approved.
Financial sheets were presented.
Reports of the Heads of Departments read.
Administration:
Lights are being installed in Children's Room.
VOTED: to buy four additional lights from Trust Funds.
Mr. Tappan requested that sides of stairs at front be pointed up. Also, bricks at lower landing
need attention.
Miss Standley requested that awnings be repaired.
Old Business:
Librarian reported use of library on Saturday is equal to that of Friday.
Communications:
Mrs. lulie Johnson sent copy of letter to Mayor Grimes from the League of Women Voters.
The letter suggested five names for consideration to fill vacancies on the Board of Trustees.
VOTED: Mrs. Risley, Secretary, write the League of Women Voters expressing appreciation
for their Interest.
VOTED: That letter also go from Board to Chief Aucone requesting some help with
disturbances outside the library--particularly the front steps.
Mrs. Conrad appointed Mr. Lovett and Miss Standley to formulate resolutions in appreciation of
services on the Board of both Mr. Cole and Dr. Murray.
Mr. Tappan interested in attending meeting for the purpose of amending Chap. 78 of the General
Laws to be held In Auburn.
VOTED: To close the Library on Wednesday before Thanksgiving at 6 P.M., and Saturday
before Christmas at 12 noon.
VOTED: December meeting to be held December 14, one week early, because of the holiday.
Beatrice Finney, rep. the League of Women Voters was present.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS Howard W. Cole served with dignity, wisdom and a ready wit as Trustee of the
Beverly Public Library from February 1970 until his untimely death; and
WHEREAS his willingness$ capability and faithfulness was greatly appreciated by his fellow
board members;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this tribute be recorded in the Minutes of the Board of
Trustees, and that a copy be sent to his family.

Dr. Cornelius J. Murray
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS Cornelius J. Murray served with honor from 1965 to 1972 as a Trustee of the
Beverly Public Library; and
WHEREAS Those who served with him remember with affection his able assistance, his good
humor, his wholehearted cooperation and his loyal support in all things for the
greater good and growth of the Library;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this tribute be recorded in the Minutes of the Board of
Trustees, and that a copy be sent to his family.
