1971-04-15 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 04/15/1971 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Louisa V. Conrad, Howard W. Cole, Diane M. Isenberg, Robert W. Lovett, Dr. Cornelius J. Murray, Albert J. Ricci, Barbara D. Risley, and Carolyn F. StandIcy Board members absent: Mieth Maeser Others present: Recorder: Florence A. Luther Thursday, April 15, 1971 4 P.M. The regular meeting was held at the Library on the above date. Present were Mrs. Conrad, presiding, Mr. Rieei, Miss StandIcy, Dr. Murray, Mr. Cole, Mr. Lovett, Mrs. Risley and Mrs. Isenberg. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Administration: Mrs. Conrad reported; Tree had been pruned on Farms grounds, and that children could no longer climb to the top of building. Dodge Associates would submit estimate of additional work needed on grounds. Financial sheets were studied and it was noted that page money being over-spent at this period. Reports of Department heads read. Communications: Bureau of Library Extension has certified State Aid Grant of $9,027. Request for payment sent by the Bureau to the State Comptroller's Bureau on March 22. Maryland Casualty Company insurance service report for Main Library stated second nipple at the right manifold corroded and leaking and should be replaced. Report on boiler at Farms Branch stated general condition of equipment satisfactory. Old Business: Since considerable time should be given to Mr. Shaffer's report, a special executive session meeting was set up for May 12 at 7:30 P.M. New Business: City electricians have replaced ballast in Reference Room lights. MeQueeny Electric Co. repaired motor to return pump in boiler. VOTED that further necessary repairs to boiler be done. Public Works Department are to be requested to clear shrubs in the parking lot. Front door to be sanded and painted. Estimates requested for painting wood around windows on the outside of the building; also, estimate for painting walls in front foyer. Observing at the meeting was Mrs. Alvan Schwartz of League of Women Voters. Meeting adjourned at 5 P.M. Florence A. Luther Clerk
