1968-06-03City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Board of Health Subcommittee: Date: June 3, 1968 Place: Board members present: A. Joseph Callahan, Jr., and Angelo g. Massa Board members absent: Dr. Jacob H. Fine, chair Others present: Thomas H. Scanlan, Director of Public Heaith, Leo Panunzio, Milk and Food Inspector, Robert Russo, Plumbing Inspector, and Joseph W. Waish, Jr., Sanitarian Recorder: Joseph W. Walsh, Jr. MONTHLY MEETING - BOARD OF HEALTH - June 3, 1968 Meeting called to order at 5:45 p.m. Members present were Angelo Massa and A. J. Callahan, Jr. Also attending were Thomas H. Scanlan, Joseph W. Walsh, Jr., Robert Russo, and Leo Panunzio. OLD BUSINESS The Board held a joint meeting in the Mayor's Office regarding the pollution problem from the dump to Kelleher's Pond and the long range solution to the problem. Attending this meeting were: Board of Aldermen, Mayor, Board of Health, City Engineer, and the Public Works Commissioner. Mr. Frank Heany of Camp, Dresser, and McKee addressed the meeting and told of plans they had submitted for our approval. If we hire them as consultant firm, the approximate cost will be $15,000.00 (not to exceed this amount). On a motion duly made and seconded the Board voted in favor of the survey. 16 Bennett Street The Board requested that they be given a final report at their next meeting and want to "touch all bases" before going to court on this matter. 15 Pleasant Street It was reported to the Board that good progress has been made at 15 Pleasant Street. The Board accepted this report as informative. NEW BUSINESS 31 Cabot Street It was brought to the attention of the Board that a house at 31 Cabot Street was recently damaged in a fire. The Board On a motion duly made and seconded voted to placard this house with the proper letter being sent to Zetlan Realty informing them Of the Board's action. Code Enforcement InsDector The Board of Health discussed the idea of hiring a code enforcement inspector. After discussing the matter, the Board decided to set up exam for the job and limit application to Beverly residents only. The Board requested Mr. Scanlan and Mr. Walsh have more information for them at their next meeting. West Lvnn Creamerv The Board of Health was informed that a Hearing was held with the West Lynn Creamery regarding their high bacteria counts on may 20, 1968. Board accepted this report as informative. Swab Tests After discussion, the Board, on a motion duly made and seconded voted to have this department start swab tests in June that will run monthly.
