Thursday October 21, 1965 4 P.M.
The regular meeting of the Trustees was held at the Library on the above date. In attendance were
Mrs. Conrad, presiding, Miss Standley, Mr. Tooracy, Mr. Pierce, Mr. Maeser, Dr. Murray and Mr.
Doherty. (Mr. Hyde ill.)
The records of the previous meeting were approved as read, as were the reports of the Librarian and
Department Heads. These were placed on file.
For Administration, Mr. Tooracy reported that the electrical entrance board at the Farms Branch was
completed. Because of this project, much replastering and painting must be done. Patti, mason
contractor estimated $285 to do this necessary work. Also reported that the hall at the Farn~ Branch
needs paint and plastering very badly. This should be included in the 1966 Budget: Other outlays, as
well as painting the entire interior of Main Library: Reading Rooms, and painting all iron work at
Main Library and Farms Branch.
Because of safety purposes Mr. Toomey will attend to the fire escape door in the Youth Room
Finance sheets were studied and discussed. It was explained that because of the change-over on the
top floor, much more help is needed. A request ~om the Mayor for $1200 must be made in order to
have any money for pages-and page help on the bookmobile so as to take care of the remainder of
the year.
If Mr. Toomey is unsuccessful in obtaining this amount it was VOTED to close at 8 as of Nov, 1.
curtail activities ofbookmobile and run a feature in the Beverly Times explaining as to lack of money
and services. (However Mr. Tooracy was not successful and is working for a transfer of $1200 ~om
Maintenance to Salaries. Quite sure it will pass readings.) Mr. Pierce made the motion that the
Budget be adopted as set up by the Budget Committee. SO VOTED.
Next meeting set for Thursday Nov. 18.
