1965-02-16 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 02/16/1965 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Anne P. Bryant, Mieth Maeser, Frederick H. Pierce, and Carolyn F. Standley Board members absent: Louisa V. Conrad, Edward M. Doherty, Frank P. Hyde, and Thomas J. Tooracy Others present: Recorder: Anitra F. Kline February 16, 1965 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on this date. Mrs. Bryant presided. Trustees present: Mrs. Bryant, Miss StandIcy, Mr. Pierce, Mr. Maeser. Mr. Pierce submitted the resolutions for Russell P. Brown. This to he signed by Mrs. Bryant and sent to Mrs. Brown at once. Letter fxom Mrs. Page read. Mrs. Bryant to answer, explaining the position of the library, and stating that the policy of not reserving books will remain unchanged. Reports of Librarian, Young People's Librarian and Head of Circulation were read. In the absence of a quorum, all reports and action taken will come up for confirmation at the next meeting. The meeting adjourned at 4:25 p.~ Anitra F. Kline Acting Clerk RESOLUTIONS - RUSSELL P. BROWN WHEREAS the passing of Russell P. Brown on January 19, 1965, removed from our ranks our long time and highly respected coworker as a trustee of the Library; and, WHEREAS he had served faithfully and effectively in that capacity since his appointment in 1953;and WHEREAS his background of experience in community affairs, his keen perception, and his accurate judgments, made him an exceptionally valuable member of the group; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED: THAT we hereby record our deep sense of Personal loss and extend our most sincere sympathy to the members of his family; and, THAT we hereby testify to the everlasting qualities of his service to the Library; and, THAT as a living memorial to his honored memory we dedicate ourselves to serve, to the best of our several abilities, the interests of the Library which he so ably espoused; and, THAT a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the records of the Library, and a copy be sent to members of his family.
