Thursday, Sept. 17, 1964 4 P.M.
The regular meeting of the Trustees was held at the Library on the above date. In attendance were
Mrs. Conrad, presiding, Miss StandIcy, Mrs. Bryant, Mr. Pierce and Mr. Doherty.
The records of the previous meeting were approved as read and the Finance Sheets were studied and
discussed. Explained was the item Books: Budget called for $9950, State grant, 1964 allowed $9027,
thus City should supply $923 to make the necessary $9950, or another year we will not receive State
Aid. VOTED for Mrs. Conrad to attend to this.
Mrs. Conrad stated that the water-proofing at the Farms was completed. The bid was $1185 and
$1350 was appropriated. Because ofthe very poor and unsafe condition ofthe iron work at the Farms
the $165 remaining, it was VOTED to request a transfer of this money to cover the iron work.
Because furniture is needed so badly for Reference Room and Young Adults Room it was VOTED
to request the Mayor and Aldermen to dispense with bids because of this emergency. (It was refused
so must advertise for bids)
As lVlrs. Tate is retiring Sept. 19, a gift of money was presented to her.
VOTED TO HAVE MISS DUANE charge of Hospital Volunteer Service, attend to B. P. L. Book
service at the Hospital using the Libraries books and make a change every month.
As the Mayor requested that the budget for 1965 he in City Hall by Dec. a Budget meeting was called
for in early Oct.
VOTED use of hall, or meeting room for Annual Meeting of Credit Union to he held Nov. 17.
VOTED to close Thurs. before Christmas at noon and Sat. A.M. after Christmas, same New Years.
(not Oct. 10 day before Oct. 12)
Because of Civil Service demand (two letters) for Job analysis, it was left for further information.
However all thought it wise to investigate or make a, study ofjob classification.
Agreed to change the next regular meeting to Oct. 29.
New back door of the Main Building was brought up, as it is only a storm door and does not close
properly, it was left for further study.
Because of low wage schedule for pages it was VOTED to start all pages at .90 per hour and increase
others as soon as budget allows and draw up a new wage schedule early in 1965.
Requesting additional money for substitutes when Staff is ill, it was decided to add or request more
money for part time older person.
