Thursday Apr. 23,1964 4 P.M.
The regular meeting of the Trustees was held at the Library on the above date. In attendance were
Mrs. Conrad, presiding, Miss StandIcy, Mr. Toomey, Mr. Macset, Mr. Pierce and Mr. Hyde and Mr.
Doherty.
The records of the previous meeting were approved as read. The finance sheets were studied and
accepted. The budget was returned from City Hall and is considered a very fair budget.
For Administration Mr. Toomey discussed the lighting to be installed in the new Yotmg Adults Room
and Reference Room- The City Electrician will present plans and do the work, will meet with Mrs.
Conrad, Mr. Hyde and Mr. Toomey for further study.
Mrs. Conrad reported that she would attend to the Farms Li~ary front door and will contact Trussell
Co.
A long discussion took place concerning the furniture needed for new upstairs rooms. $2000 was
allowed in the budget for this purpose. Mrs. Conrad appoimed a Committee to study this matter; Mr.
Maeser, Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Conrad. It was suggested that trade School might be considered.
Reports of Circulation, Librarian and department heads were read and placed on file.
Discussion was held as to the retirement of Mrs. Tare to take place Sept. 17. It was agreed to consult
three high school girls, suggested by Miss Boyd, B.H.S. girls advisor.
It was stated that National Library Week Program was a grand success, and well attended. Mrs.
Patch, in charge of this program has a report on file.
It was decided not to close the library for rearranging and moving books for the new stacks except
at the discretion of the librarian.
After discussion of Mr. Lancaster's book "Big Knives", presented by Mrs. Lancaster, it was agreed
to keep this copy with books by Beverly Authors which eventually will have a special sheft.
