The regular meeting of the Trustees was held at the Library on the above date. Those in attendance
were Mrs. Conrad, Miss StandIcy, Mrs. Bryant, Mr. Toomey and Mr. Doherty.
The records of the previous meeting were approved as read, as were the finance sheets after study
and then placed on file.
Because ofthe extensive work in the stacks: new liR and new stacks, it was impossible forthe pages
to carry on their work during Nov. and Dec. Thus there is a $300 balance in the page money. It was
left for Mrs. Conrad to approach the Mayor so as to make some arrangement so that this amount can
be used for the work to be do ne when stacks are completed.
A long discussion of the Bookmobile fund and Children's Building Fund was held. Mr. Burton
Phi!lips, Pres. of the Beverly National Bank has charge Bookmobile a Fund.
It was VOTED that Mrs. Conrad open an account: Beverly Public Library Board of Trustees in the
name of Chairman and Secretary and called: Children's Building Fund.
VOTED to send a letter to Mr. Bourne, Architect requesting that the electrical connections to the
heat controls to be installed immediately.
It was suggested that the Beverly Times take pictures of conditions in the stacks so that the public
will know why the stacks must remain closed for a period.
Mr. Tooracy explained that $350 was transferred to City Maintenance Dept. to take care of ceiling
at Farms Library. Through the kindness of Mr. Richardson, whatever added mount it costs was
absorbed by his dept.
Mrs. Bryant explained that the Phillip Brooks letters of Judy Kelly English, Beverly Author might be
made available to the Library. It was suggested that when a special Author's shelf was to arranged
it should be dedicated to Mr. Brace Lancaster, famous Beverly author and former Member of the
Trustees, who passed away June 1963.
