1963-11-21 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 11/21/1963 Place: Beverly Public L~rary Board members present: Louisa V. Conrad, Anne P. Bryant, Edward M. Doherty, Frank P. Hyde, Frederick H. Pierce, and Carolyn F. StandIcy Board members absent: Russell P. Brown, and Thomas J. Tooracy Others present: Recorder: Marion A. Brown November 21,1963 4 P.M. The regular meeting was held at the Library on the above date. Present were Mrs. Conrad, Ch., presiding, Miss StandIcy, Mrs. Bryant, Mr. Hyde, Mr. Pierce and Mr. Doherty. The records of the last meeting were approved as read, as were the finance sheets. As Mr. Tooracy was not present it was reported for administration: VOTED to purchase window shades for Farms Branch, cost $84 to be paid from any available fund. Mrs. Bryant agreed to attend to the plugs and office light for the Farms Branch. Fire inspection report was read and left for Mr. Tooracy to attend to. Also read was the transfer of $350 from Insurance Account to Library Account to take care of the work done on Farms ceilings. Letter read from Mayor concerning group job adjustments for Librarian and Asst. Librariax~ It was denied by the Mayor. It was decided to obtain comparable figures and facts and again approach the Mayor. VOTED: Oil painting of Joanna Quiner, a Beverly residere, done by Frothingham be placed in the Beverly Historical Society. This painting was presented in 1897 to the Library by Phoebe Hanniford. VOTED: Waiter S. Flint legacy of $2018.41 to be added to bookmobile fund now in Beverly National Bank, fired in charge of Bnrton Phillips, President. Reports of Librarian and Department Heads were accepted as read and placed on file. Discussion of Mr. Bournes, architect, fee. Mr. Hyde took bill and some papers to study. VOTED changes and additions in other Outlays of Budget: Lighting for third floor $2400 and Furniture $2000 to be added. Adjourned 5:35. Marion A. Brown Clerk
