OLD BUSINESS
16 Bennett Street
A hearing was requested by Mrs. Lowell E. Sawyer of 16 Bennett
Street,
Beverly, regarding the Board of Health's letter ordering her and
her tenants to vacate said house.
Mrs. Sawyer presented the Board with an estimate from North Shore
Roofing of -,$875.00 for a new roof.
Mr. Whitaker suggested that she talk to more contractors and
receive at least two more bids. He felt that to fix the house
properly it will cost much more than the above-quoted estimate.
Mrs. Sawyer was also told of other problems in the house besides
the roof repair. The house does need attention.
Mrs. Sawyer asked the Board for more time to look into bids and to
get expert advice. Mr. Whitaker volunteered to assist her in any
way possible. He will go to the house with the contractor and show
just what has to be done. He will volunteer help if asked to do
so.
The Board of Health on a motion made and seconded voted to grant an
extension of time until April 8, 1968 at 6:00 p.m. to Mrs. Sawyer.
GarbaGe Contracts
The Board voted to hold up signing of garbage contracts until bonds
are submitted.
