1963-05-16 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 05/16/1963 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Louisa V. Conrad, Russell P. Brown, Anne P. Bryant, Edward M. Doherty, Frank P. Hyde, Bruce Lancaster, Frederick H. Pierce, Carolyn F. StandIcy, and Thomas J. Toomey Board members absent: Others present: Recorder: Marion A. Brown Thursday, May 16, 1963 4 P .M. The meeting. of the Trustees was held at the Library on the above date. Present were Mrs. Conrad, Miss StandIcy, Mrs. Bryant, Mr. Lancaster, Mr. Hyde, Mr. Pierce, Mr. Tooracy and Mr. Brown. The records of the previous meeting were approved. The Finance sheets were studied and accepted. For Administration, Mrs. Conrad explained that the Farms front door is in the process of being repaired and Mr. Tooracy stated that he is working on the repairs to the Farms Reading Room ceiling. The circulation and Librarian's reports were read and accepted. VOTED: A request for July 3d entertainment for Farms Children in the Farms Library Hall. If possible some Trustee should attend the Mass. Trustees meeting May 251h at Sturbridge. Mr. Tooracy will attend to having sidewalks about the building and the driveway repaired. Mrs. Conrad read a letter from Aldermen Dragonas and Riley as to the Beverly Common and presented the proposed plan. Discussion followed. VOTED to send a letter stating that the VOTE of the Trustees as of March 22 still stands and they find no reason to change their VOTE. The new bookmobile, the Rotary Project, was discussed. Mr. Pierce and Mr. Hyde stated that $2000 had been raised and he would like the project re-investigated as to size and cost so that he as Director could clarify the cost ofthe machine. Mr. Toomey will attend to getting proposals and present to Mr. Pierce. A tag day was suggested to raise money. Adjourned 5 P.M. Marion A. Brown Clerk
