THURSDAY APRIL 18, 1963 4 P.M.
The regular meeting of the Trustees was held at the Library on the above date. In attendance were
Mrs. Conrad, presiding, Miss StandIcy, Mrs. Bryant, Mr. Lancaster, Mr. Pierce, Mr. Doherty and Mr.
Toomey, Mr. Hyde.
The records of the previous meeting were approved as read. The Finance sheets were studied and
accepted. The budget was returned by the City. Some items were cut. A new clerk-typist was allowed
to start June 1.
A discussion of the Farms from door took place, as the Faxms Library had been entered by pushing
the door open. As these repairs were not allowed in the Budget, a motion was made and SO VOTED
to take sufficient mount from the dog tax ($500 about) to make these necessary repairs.
The circulation and Department head reports were approved as read.
Mrs. Conrad explained that the City had requested the drain pipe in the Parking Lot, connect with
the Dane Street drain, to go through a strip of land running on Library property. Mr. Toomey also
explained just how the project was proposed. A letter was composed and it was VOTED to send the
enclosed to Public Works Commissioner Richardson granting permission.
All agreed that Mrs. G~bs and Mrs. Cook should attend the Young Adults Meeting to be held in
Sutton, Mass., May 9.
A long discussion was held of the renovations and repairs to the Main Library. Mr. Hyde, Chairman
of the Commission explained in detail. All details to date are in Note book marked MAIN LIBRARY
REPAIRS 1963.

Dear Sir:
The Board of Trustees of the Beverly Public Library hereby grants permission to the
Commissioner of Public Works for the use of a strip of land running ~om the parking lot to install
a drain pipe connecting the two existing dry wells in the parking lot. The said drain to run parallel
with the fence separating the library property f~om that of Mrs. Henry Dalton (Galvin). This drain to
be connected with the existing surface drain on Dane Street. It is understood that no trees or shrubs
are to be disturbed and that the turf is to be immediately replaced after the pipe has been installed,
or reseeded as necessary, and the fence will be replaced if disturbed.
