Brown Thursday, June 21, 1962 2 P.M. Because of the Library Program at the Rotary Luncheon, the majority ofthe Trustees agreed that the regular trustees' meeting could be held right after the luncheon at 2 P.M. at the Library. Those in attendance were Mrs. Conrad, Miss StandIcy, Mr. Toomey, Mr. Lancaster, Mr. Hyde and Mr. Pierce. The records of the previous meeting were approved as read and after careful study of the finance sheets, they were accepted. A discussion of the page money took place, and it was decided to go along as carefully as possible, try to get the summer work done and make a report in Sept. As the Mayor, absolutely will not increase the page allowance, if necessary try somehow to solve this problem. For Administration, Mr. Toomey read the specifications for the Farms roof. After long discussion, Mr. Tooracy and Mr. Hyde were authorized to go overthe specifications once more with the building inspector and make any changes necessary before advertising for bids. As the front door at the Farms is in a disastrous condition it was decided to try again for a special appropriation. Mrs. Conrad brought up the matter of using the existing mahogany for the from of the new desk, but as it is not at all feasible and would prove very expensive it was VOTED to finish the new charging desk in mahogany at $197.35 to he taken from Trust Funds. Mr. Toomey stated that the iron work at beth Main and Branch should be painted at some future early date. As most of the Beverly Times are disintegrating fast, and as Mr. Hovey is starting at the beginning to microfilm them, the library will be able to obtain a positive print of each volume at a reduced rate of $6.00 per film. It was VOTED to take $240 from the Baker Trust Fund to purchase a cabinet to store the films. This is imperative. A Reader should be obtained later at a cost of $500. The Circulation and Librarian's reports were omitted at this meeting. A request was read from Mr. Richard Seer of Danvers for the use of the hall for a Public speaking course, however as he did not represent any organiT_a_tion or present references it was left that the Trustees were sorry--the hall is not available for use under these conditions. Adjourned 2:45 Marion A. Brown Clerk Mrs. Conrad, Mrs. Patch and Mrs. Gibbs spoke at the Rotary luncheon giving a brief summary ofthe pros and cons of the Library. A new and improved charging desk was than presented by the Beverly Rotary Club to the Library.
