1962-05-17 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 05/17/1962 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Louisa V. Conrad, Anne P. Bryant, Frank P. Hyde, Bruce Lancaster, Carolyn F. StandIcy, and Thomas J. Tooracy Board members absent: Russell P. Brown, Saul J. Cagan, and Frederick H. Pierce Others present: Recorder: Marion A. Brown THURSDAY, MAY 17, 1962 4P. M. The regular meeting of the Trustees was held at the library on the above date. In attendance were Mrs. Conrad, presiding, Miss Standley Mrs. Bryant, Mr. Lancaster, Mr. Hyde and Mr. Tooracy. The records if the previous meeting were approved as read. After study of the Finance sheets they also were approved. Mr. Lancaster's most interesting chart of figures was discussed and many, thanks were extended to him for a fine piece of work. For Administration, Mr. Toomey reported that Mr. Dolloffhad inspected the Farms roof and he would list the necessary needs and will have all facts and speci~catiom in about two weeks. The casing of the from door at Farms was also inspected and proved absolutely gone. Mrs. Conrad read the report of the Trussell Construction Go, stating also, that the casings, pilasters and circle arch are in a badly rotted condition. An estimate was given for $340 to do this work plus $242 to install the remaineder, as the arch is fastened to the back, plus $45 for two coats of paint. This was discussed fully and if the Mayor allows the money for this, it would have to put out for bids. Mrs. Conrad appointed a Commission to take care of these repairs at the Farms. Appointed were Mr. Toomey, Chairman, Mr. Hyde and Mrs. Conrad. The circulation figures and reports of department heads were approved as read and placed on fie. The two weeks illness of the Custodian, Mr. Hanson was discussed. If he is unable to return back to work in another week, C. S. must he notified for emergency help. VOTED TO SEND TWO TO the M.L.A. spring meeting held at the Schine Inn in Chicopec. VOTED to allow Mrs. Dunklog to take the 3 rd year at the University of N.H. and allow her $75.00 for 3 weeks tuition A long discussion was held concerning the new desk to be presented by the Rotary Club.
