1962-04-26 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 04/26/1962 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Louisa V. Conrad, Anne P. Bryant, Saul J. Cagan, Brace Lancaster, Frederick H. Pierce, Carolyn F. StandIcy, and Thomas J. Tooracy Board members absent: Russell P. Brown, and Frank P. Hyde Others present: Recorder: Marion A. Brown Thursday 26 April, 1962 4 P.M. The regular meeting of the Trustees was held at the Library on the above date. In attendance were Mrs. Conrad, presiding, Mrs. Bryant, Miss StandIcy, Mr. Lancaster, Mr. Pierce, Mr. Toomey and Mr. Cagan. The records of the previous meeting were a proved as read. After discussion of the finance sheets they also, were approved. A long discussion was held as to the 1962 budget. The amounts asked for, for many of the items were cut. The Trust Funds, the interest of which amotmted to $4,440.22 were discussed at length. The amount set for the dog tax was $1740.61. For Administration Mrs. Conrad stated that the Tressell Co. wouM attend to the new hinges for the from door of the Main Building, also would give an estimate as to casing of the Farms from door. Mr Toomey explained that before advertising for bids for the Farms roof; he would have Mr. Dolloff, the City Building Inspector, inspect the roof and the door casing. Mr. Lancaster presented a most interesting graph of the circulation figures. After discussion of the Wed. night opening at the Farms it was felt that more advertising and publicity could be given to this item. Also a new World Book encyclopedia shotrid be purchased for Farms to replace the 1952 edition. The Circulation and Libratiara' reports were approved as read and placed on file. Mr. Pierce, Chairman of the new vacation sub-committee, with Mrs. Bryant and Mr. Toomey read their report. After a long discussion it was VOTED to rescind the vacation plan of April 1960. A motion was made and so VOTED to adopt Plan 1 of this Sub-Committees study as follows: Plan 1: For those with one to three years service - two weeks For those with over three and under five years service - three weeks For those with five years or over of service - four weeks The report is herein on file.
