1962-02-25 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 02/15/1962 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Russell P. Brown, Saul J. Cagan, Bruce Lancaster, Frederick H. Pierce, and Thomas J. Toomey Board members absent: Louisa V. Conrad, Anne P. Bryant, Frank P. Hyde, and Carolyn F. Standley Others present: Recorder: Marion A. Brown Thursday, February 15, 1962 4 P.M. The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on the above date. Present were Mr. Gagan, Mr. Lancaster, Mr. Brown, Mr. Pierce and Mr. Tooracy. In the absence of Mrs. Conrad, Mr. Cagan, Secretary, presided. The records of the previous meeting were approved as read. Alter study of the Finance Sheets, they were approved. The 1962 Budget has not come back from the Mayor as yet. For Administration, Mr. Toomey reported that Inspector Albert B. Weston stated that there is an open fuse box type of service at the Farms, he recomn~nds that a new service board be installed. The Farms roof will cost in the vicinity of $1500 and we will have to approach the City for a special appropriation. Also, discussed was the Farms door, from, which needs a new casing. No action was taken on the new service board at Farms. The Annual Report for 1961 was read by Mr. Cagan. After a few corrections it was VOTED to go ahead with the printing. The Circulation and reports of Department Heads were approved as read and placed on file. After discussion of Mrs. Dillon's illness it was VOTED THAT we concurred with the Doctor's statement that she cannot carry books. The bookmobile work was thoroughly explained in September as to the responsibilities of the job and carrying books is a part of it. A letter is to be sent to her explaining this matter, as well as informing her that our budget does not allow for any additional help for this purpose. A motion was made and SO VOTED that Mr. Paul Dunklee be put on the staff as Special Services Librarian for a-six months Uial period to be given $76.30 per week allowed by Barrington Survey to begin February 26.
