BOARD OF HEALTH - RECESSED MEETING - FEBRUARY 15, 1968
The recessed meeting of February 5, 1968 was called to order at 6:00
P.M. with Dr. Jacob H. Fine, Chairman presiding and Angelo R. Massa and
A. J. Callahan, Jr. present.
On a motion made and seconded it was unanimously voted that Eastern
Contract Disposal Company of Rowley, Massachusetts be awarded the
contract for collection of garbage in Districts 2 and 3 as described in
the specifications advertised in the Beverly Evening Times of January
16, 23, and 30, 1968.
The contract price for District 2 will be $17,500.00 per year for a
two-year period beginning March 21, 1968. The contract price for
District 3 will be $8,950.00 per year for a two year period beginning
March 21, 1968,
On a motion made and seconded it was unanimously voted that Lawler
Brothers of Beverly Farms, Massachusetts be awarded the contract for
collection of garbage in Districts 4 and 5 as described in the
specifications advertised in the Beverly Evening Times of January 16,
23, and 30, 1968.
The contract price for District 4 will be $15,400.00 per year for the
two year period beginning March 21, 1968. The contract price for
District 5 will be $9,250.00 per year for the two-year period beginning
March 21, 1968.
It was unanimously voted to reject the bid submitted for District 1
because, in the Board's opinion, the price was too high. Mr. Scanlan was
instructed to re-advertise for bids on District 1 at once, so that
action can be taken at the next Board of Health meeting on March 4, 1968.
Mrs. Dwyer was instructed to send the check and a letter to Mr. Contoni
of Farm Road, Peabody informing him of the Board's decision.
Air Pollution Course
The Board of Health granted the request to send Mr. Walsh to an Air
Pollution Course in Waltham, Massachusetts in April for a one week
period. It was also voted to pay Mr. Walsh ten cents per mile travel and
registration.
