Moulton, William C. Boyden, Franklin Leach, and Joseph D. Tuck Board members absent: Robert R. Endicott Others present: Recorder: Franklin Leach Dec. 1st 1868 At the meeting this evening, a number of new books were selected for purchase and the purchasing committee were requested to procure a supply suitable for the Christmas Holidays. A letter was received from Mrs. Sarah Hooper conveying a bust executed by the late Miss J. Quiner of her father, to the Library after her decease. To the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library. Gentlemen, I have a bust of the late Abram Quiner, a worthy useful man, which was modeled by his daughter, the late Joanna Quiner & thought by her to be her most successful effort as an mist. Her portrait by the eminent painter Frothingham having been presented by her to the Town Library and it being desirable that some production of a self taught mist, so remarkable for her genius for modeling the human bust, should be preserved in a public institution in this her native town. I here by present the said bust to the Beverly Town Library to be delivered after my decease - on condition that it shall be permanently & carefully kept where it my be seen at proper times & under proper regulations. (Signed) Sarah Hooper Beverly Oct. 29th 1868 The above was accepted by the Trustees, and a vote of thanks passed. Adjourned to Jan. 5th. Present Messrs. Moulton, Tuck, Boyden & Leach
